Hey and welcome to my blog! Wether you're family/friends checking in on my adventures or just a person curious about the life of and American high school student living in Colombia, I'm glad you're here.
A quick (if you're a quick reader) introduction: My name is Liz Gregory and I am a sophomore in high school. I'm 16 and will be spending my junior year studying abroad in Colombia. I am going through the Rotary Youth Exchange program. I have made it through the interview process and I am currently waiting to hear about where I will be in Colombia. Last year I went to a microscopic school consisting of 5 students. Yeah you heard that right, 5 students in the WHOLE high school! This year I have made it up to a class with 48 students(school of around 250) so 50 times as big as my old school. Still small but I'm making my way up. I have to live 60 miles away from my family during the week to got to such a "big" school. Compromises!
Next year is going to be a huge change! Sometimes I find myself wondering why I'm even doing this. I mean algebra 2 is hard enough in english, taking pre calculus in Spanish just doesn't seem like a good idea! Also sometimes I find myself noticing little things, like how my little brother only calls me Liz when he's mad and other times calls me Lizzie. Or when I'm hyper my brother joins in with me and we get really loud and goofy. My mom watches us with her eyebrows raised trying not to laugh. I never though about how I will miss small things like this, until thinking about being without them for a full 10 months. If you are also going on exchange next year you probably know these mood swings; some days you feel so excited, other days it feels too soon and you feel sad. I'm leaving in 5 months and I'm already having these feelings.
I know it's a bit early to star this blog and that's why I'm only posting monthly and won't share my blog until August. When I'm on exchange I will probably only post monthly also, but I will have a vlog (will post the link when I make my first vlog), instagram, and Facebook were you can stay caught up.
